Cotabato City Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi said Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice is the moment for the Cotabateños to offer “sacrifices for the greater glory.”
The local chief executive extended her greetings to the residents during the observance of Eid’l Adha.
“It is that time of the year again when we, Cotabateños, celebrate Eid ul Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice together with our Muslim Brothers and Sisters. This is the moment we remember our willingness to obey Allah (SWT) and offer our sacrifices for the greater glory,” she said.
“And as we speak of sacrifices, like Abraham who gave his son, Ishmael, may we, Cotabateños live a life rooted from obedience, willingness, and oblation,” Sayadi said.
She said this is a kind of life which the Cotabateños could bring in peace to one’s self and to the other.
“We could help uplift one another; and, strengthen faith with one another that is essential to building a better society,” she said.
The mayor expressed hope that the occasion would give the Cotabateños an opportunity to move forward as one community and as one Cotabato City.
The city is the seat of power of the Bangsamoro government.
President Rodrigo Duterte declared Monday, August 12, as a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha. #
