Duterte signs law increasing Zamboanga City hospital capacity to 800 beds
President Rodrigo Duterte has signed a law increasing the bed capacity of the Zamboanga City Medical Center in Zamboanga City from 500 to 800 beds.
Duterte inked the law or Republic Act No. 11087 on October 10.
“The existing hospital facilities and professional health care services of the Zamboanga City Medical Center are hereby upgraded to conform with and be commensurate to the increase in its bed capacity,” the law read.
With the increase in the bed capacity, RA 11087 said the existing workforce shall also be raised.
The Department of Health, in coordination with the Department of Budget and Management and the Civil Service Commission, and after the consultation with the Zamboanga City Medical Center, shall determine the additional plantilla positions to be created.
The increase in bed capacity of the hospital shall be implemented for a period of not more than two years from the approval of the Act.
The annual budget for the hospital will be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
RA 11087 will take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
