Duterte lauds mass killing of drug suspects in Bulacan: We’ll reduce what ails PH if 32 get killed daily

President Rodrigo Duterte considers the killing of 32 drug suspects in Bulacan over the past 24 hours a good thing for the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.

In a speech at the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption’s (VACC) 19th anniversary Wednesday (August 16), Duterte hailed the number of casualties which resulted from the Bulacan police’s “simultaneous one-time, big-time operation.”

“‘Yung namatay daw kanina sa Bulacan, 32, in a massive raid. Maganda ‘yun. Makapatay lang tayo ng mga another 32 everyday then maybe we can reduce the — what ails this country,” he said.

Duterte said the incident showed how illegal drugs takes a toll on the lives of people, whether they are criminals or crime victims.

Bulacan provincial police director Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat Jr. attributed the high death toll to the fact that the police ran after “notorious” drug suspects.

The Philippine National Police Internal Affairs Service has vowed to investigate police operations that resulted in the deaths of the drug suspects.
