Bishop Medil S. Aseo, a missionary priest in the United States, was ordained Wednesday as the fourth Bishop of the Diocese of Tagum.
Papal Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Gabriele Caccio led the episcopal ordination and canonical installation of Aseo held at the Christ The King Cathedral in Tagum City.
Aseo replaced Bishop Wilfredo Manlapaz, who retired in 2016 after reaching the age of 75.
Compostela Valley and Davao del Norte are also covered by the Diocese of Tagum.
With the event, the city government of Tagum temporarily closed the roads near the Cathedral from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The closure of some major roads was contained in an executive order issued on June 18 by Mayor Allan Rellon.
