The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Compostela Valley have signed an agreement to rehabilitate the Naboc River in Monkayo town.
Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu inked the memorandum of agreement with Governor Tyron Tuesday, July 16, at the DENR Region XI, Quadrangle, K. 7, Lanang, Davao City.
“Naboc River is our pilot area and the success of its rehabilitation must be replicated in other mining areas of the country,” Cimatu said.
Uy vowed to give his time, effort and passion in cleaning up the Naboc River and support the DENR’s advocacy.
The MOA aims to rehabilitate, desilt and quarry the Naboc River.
“Mining should not just be for profit and financial gains of individual investors, but for the people and country as well. We will take the challenge of improving its contribution to the economy and to also rehabilitate the areas, through concerted efforts, to protect the country’s rivers from degradation and pollution,” Cimatu said. #
