Davao Region to enforce ‘lockdown’ for 14 days due to coronavirus


All provincial governors and city mayors of Davao Region have agreed to implement a “lockdown” to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Davao de Oro Governor Tyron Uy said the entire Davao Region shall close all entry points at 00:01H Thursday, March 19, 2020 and shall be implemented for 14 days.

“People may leave the region but cannot return to get in,” he said on his Facebook page.

In the coming days, he said all city mayors and provincial governors of Davao Region shall undertake unified and concerted efforts to contain the virus.

The Department of Health has confirmed at least one COVID-19 case in Davao Region, particularly in Davao de Oro.
