The Davao City government is set to start implementing the Quick Response (QR) Code system next month to fast-track the contact tracing of individuals who could be infected with coronavirus disease in the city, according to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
The local chief executive said the QR Code will be mandatory in Davao City by November.
“This is one of our moves to hasten the contact tracing,” she said.
Duterte-Carpio also asked the support and cooperation of the private sector and business establishments for the smooth implementation of the program.
She said the QR Code will be issued manually and not application-based because many people are either not technology savvy or do not have smartphones.
The mayor is expected to release an executive order to lay down the guidelines for the implementation of the QR Code system.
