Davao City ready to provide food aid to workers still affected by limited biz operations under MGCQ

The Davao City government will continue to assist affected workers of offices and business establishments allowed to open only on limited capacity under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said.

She said those who still need food should not hesitate to reach out the City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO), Davao City Reports, Davao Disaster Radio, Covid-19 Operation Center Hotlines or the City Mayor’s Office.

“Food and grocery packs distribution will still continue. This will not stop even though we are under MGCQ,” the mayor said.

Even though the city is already under MGCQ and more businesses are allowed to open again, Maria Luisa Bermudo, head of the CSWDO, however, said some businesses are still not in full operation and that means there are still employees who could not go back to work.

According to Bermudo, the CSWDO has already distributed food assistance to more than 20,000 affected workers since the GCQ. These workers are from more than 700 non-essential establishments and 50 associations.
