City Hall in Davao City got into the Christmas spirit early by adopting a candyland theme for the holidays.
The city government lit a 40-foot-high Christmas tree to kick off the month-long celebration of Christmas last Friday evening, Dec. 1.
Many visitors took a look at a giant Christmas lantern donated by Pampanga province, one of the biggest attractions of the celebration.
As children’s choirs performed, many children availed of free ice cream and carnival rides at the Rizal Park.
Some P17 million was allotted for this year’s “Pasko Fiesta” activities and competitions.
During the opening ceremony, City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio urged Davao City residents to see “how to improve the lives and welfare of Dabawenyo children.”
“If we will be able to make every child happy and free from hunger that would be a gift that will be enjoyed beyond this season,” she said.
