Davao City is clamping down on the unauthorized use of uniforms, including those of the police, military, Coast Guard and traffic enforcers.
The city council’s peace-and-order panel under Councilor Mabel Acosta said an ordinance now being drafted also covers Task Force Davao.
Acosta cited instances where unscrupulous parties use the uniforms for “criminal activities or intimidation.”
Under the Revised Penal Code, the unauthorized use of military and police uniforms is a criminal offense.
Acosta pointed out tailoring shops are not allowed to make official uniforms of peacekeeping forces if they are not accredited.
Those caught doing so will be penalized, she added.
