Davao City breaches 1-M mark for 1st dose jabs – Mayor Sara

Davao City has surpassed the one-million mark for Covid-19 first dose vaccination, said Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

The local chief executive said that as of Nov. 19, 2021, 1,010,811 Dabawenyos received first doses or 84.23 percent of the 1.2 million target herd immunity while 908,101 individuals got their second doses or 75.67 percent of the herd immunity target.

She, however, said the current turnout of the vaccination rollout does not guarantee that the city will be able to hit its herd immunity target as mandated by the national government before 2021 ends.

“We can’t say, we can’t promise. We can’t say. Let us strive to achieve the demand of our) national government to hit the target of 100 percent herd immunity in Davao City,” Duterte-Carpio said.

She said the local government expects a significant increase in the numbers during the national government’s three-day Bayanihan Bakunahan from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, 2021, which will be conducted in all operational vaccination sites in the city.
