The city government of Davao has earmarked P3.5 million in cash to be given to Luzon provinces and municipalities in Luzon struck by Typhoon “Quiel.”

The fund from the city’s Quick Response Fund (QEF) will be extended to the provinces of Apayao and Cagayan and the municipalities of Allacapan, Abulug, Camanlaniugan, Sta. Praxedes, and Claveria in Cagayan, said City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) head Alfredo Baloran.

Each province will receive P2 million while each municipality will get P300,000.

Baloran said the provinces and municipalities can spend the money where it is needed the most to cope with the damages caused by the typhoon.

“This has been the tradition of the city to assist other areas who were hit by different calamities. As long as they will declare under the state of calamity, we will extend assistance to them,” he said.

Baloran, however, assured that the city government has enough funds under the QRF should there is a need to assist Dabawenyos. QRF is 30 percent of the 5 percent Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund. #
