Cotabato City mayor tells local politikos to stop illegal drugs or be penalized

Cotabato City Mayor Cynthia GuianiSayadi, chairperson of the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC), announced last May 4 the creation of a special committee that is empowered in order to penalize village officials who have been turning a blind eye on the illegal drug activities in their area.

According to Sayadi, if village politikos do not do anything against the proliferation against illegal drugs, they will be penalized and non-performing officials will be made accountable.
She explained that Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BDAC) will be closely monitored by the special oversight committee.

“If you cannot do your job for one reason or another, just tell me. I will not hesitate to accept your resignation.” Said Sayadi during the CPOC meeting.

Likewise, Sayadi announced that peace and order situation of the city has greatly improved thanks to the number of crime incidents being dramatically reduced by about 50 percent compared to the same period last 2016.

She added that Cotabato City now is safer, allowing business confidence to be restored, especially now that the military-led ‘Task Force Kutawato’ is in place.
