Cops, JTF Sulu kill 2 Abu Sayyaf bandits, nab 4 others in Sulu op

Two suspected members of the terrorist Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) were killed during a law enforcement operation in Sulu, the military said Thursday.

Four other alleged ASG members were also arrested during the operation launched by the police and the Joint Task Force (JTF) Sulu in Barangay Kajatian in Indanan town at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, said Lt. Col. Gerry Besana of the Western Mindanao Command Public Information Office.

Those who died after they allegedly resisted arrest were identified as Jade Hassan, alias Radjik, and Kemar Jade.

The operatives nabbed Lino Tantung, 42 years old; Hamjir Sahidal, 19; Sajiyal Asiral Alamia, 46; and Arajal Amicul Aida, 46.

Recovered from the encounter site were one 12 gauge shotgun with eight pieces of ammunition, two 45 caliber pistol with two magazines and 14 pieces of live ammunition.

The authorities also seized from Sahidal’s possession one heat sealed transparent plastic with white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
