Condoms part of relief packs! Mayor Sara says COVID-19 not excuse to forget family planning

The city government of Davao has included condoms in the relief packs being distributed to the Dabawenyos who are asked to stay home to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said that responsible parenthood and family planning remains on the campaign of the local government amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Ayaw mo og katingala nga dunay mga condoms sa mga food packs because daghan ta og stock sa condom. Atoa ning gipangayo sa Department of Health kaniadto para sa atoang kampanya sa Pagbabago Campaign. Tungod kay na stop ang atoang Pagbabago Campaign, atoang gibutang sa atoang mga relief goods ang atoang mga condom (Do not be surprised if there are condoms in our food packs because we have asked them from the Department of Health for our Pagbabago Campaign. The campaign has been suspended, so we included the condoms in the relief goods instead,” she said.

The mayor said the COVID-19 pandemic is not an excuse for couples to forget about family planning.

She asked those who received condoms to give the family planning material to others in case they are not useful for them.

The Pagababago Campaign has targeted women and children in the barangays — with the objective of inculcating the value of education among children and the importance of planned parenthood among women and their partners.
