COA condemns killing of Maguindanao auditor

The Commission on Audit (COA) has urged authorities to bring to justice the suspects in the killing of its auditor in Maguindanao province.

COA condemned the death of Guiaria Bagundang Akmad, supervising auditor of Maguindanao in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

She was gunned down by unknown perpetrators in Cotabato City Friday, January 10.

“We strongly urge the authorities to act swiftly on the case and conduct an impartial investigation so that the perpetrators may be brough to justice,” COA said in a statement.

“The nature and work of our auditors exposes them to risks to their safety but it has not and shall not deter us from doing our Constitutional duty,” it added.

COA asked the public to pray for Akmad’s family and for the safety of its auditors and for their “steadfast courage and integrity.”
