Bangsamoro government Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim has underscored the importance of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), particularly in this time of coronavirus pandemic.
“The data brought upon from this year’s census on population gives us a clearer insight on the severity of this pandemic and how much it affects the lives of the families all over the region and the archipelago,” Ebrahim said during the virtual opening of the 31st National Statistics Month celebration in the region.
Ebrahim was represented by Assistant Executive Secretary Abdullah Cusain during the event.
Last month, the Bangsamoro-PSA conducted the 2020 Census of Population and Housing despite the threats of Covid-19. Some 5,000 enumerators were assigned to conduct the census in the entire Bangsamoro region.
“Despite the unprecedented challenges, the PSA remains true to its mandate and commitment to public service,” he said.
“This is an example of how Covid-19 has affected all our lives, and changed the way we live, work, and communicate with each other. This also illustrates how important PSA’s work is,” the official added.
The celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 “Declaring Every October as the National Statistics Month.”
