Closing of Mega Market in Kidapawan City fake news – Mayor Evangelista

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista denied Thursday, March 26, that the Mega Market will close for one week due to the threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Evangelista branded the posts on social media as “fake news.”

He warned those who have been disseminating fake news that they would be penalized under the newly-signed Republic Act No. 11469, otherwise known as the “Bayanihan to Heal As One Act.”

He asked the people to report to the authorities those who are engaged in spreading fake news.

“Katunayan exempted ang Mega Market sa mga isinarang pasilidad sa panahon ng Enhanced Community Quarantine sa lungsod,” the city government said.

It urged the public to believe only those statements coming from the government and not from gossips and fake news.
