Camiguin health office says no case of coronavirus; 29-year old patient tested negative


The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Camiguin has clarified that there is no case of novel coronavirus (nCoV) in the province.

Dr. Gretchen L. Cabalang of Camiguin PHO made the statement after the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday, January 27, that there were 11 persons under investigation for showing symptoms of the deadly virus. One of the 11 was a 29-year old male from Mambajao, Camiguin.

“This is to inform the public that there is no case of the Novel Corona Virus in the Island Province of Camiguin,” Cabalang said.

She said the person suspected of having been infected has been found “negative and is recovering from his symptoms.”

The Health official also said that the province has instituted mandatory protocols in monitoring and safeguarding the possible introduction of the disease in their place.

“Camiguin is healthy and safe, as always,” she said.
