The Zamboanga City government has conducted an avian influenza “bird flu” surveillance activities in areas considered as “hot spots” in the city, Mayor Beng Climaco said Sunday, August 30.
The Office of the City Veterinarian was specifically tasked to do the surveillance activities.
“The first blood collection was done in the Manicahan veterinary district,” Climaco said.
Other hot spots are Saaz River, Zambowood, Sta. Barbara, Mampang, Arena Blanco, Buenavista and Mangusu wetlands.
Surveillance activities are done twice a year in the so-called “hot spots,” the mayor added.
