Bill moving BARMM elections to 2025 OK’d by House on 2nd reading

The House of Representatives on Monday approved on second reading a measure postponing the elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Under House Bill 10121, the 2022 elections in BARMM will be rescheduled in May 2025 synchronized with the national and local elections.

This would allow the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) to continue fulfilling the terms of the peace agreement between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The Senate has approved a similar measure on third reading last week.
