Bill dividing SoCot into 3 districts hurdles House on 2nd reading

The House of Representatives has approved on second reading the proposal dividing South Cotabato into three legislative districts.

House Bill 10021 was approved via voice voting.

Under the measure, the first legislative district shall be composed of the municipalities of Polomolok, Tampakan and Tupi.

Second district shall be composed of Koronadal City and municipalities of Banga and Tantangan.

The third district will be the municipalities of Norala, Santo Niño, Surallah, Lake Sebu and T’boli.

The City of General Santos will be separated from the third district and will become the lone district.

The incumbent Representatives of the existing First and Second Legislative Districts shall continue to represent the districts until the expiration of their term of office in June 2022.
