The Bangsamoro government has earmarked P1.85 billion for infrastructure projects in North Cotabato and Cotabato City this year, an official said.
Ministry of Public Works Minister Eduard Guerra said the projects would usher in development to the opt-in areas and would boost their economic activities.
The new geographical areas of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) include the 63 barangays from North Cotabato province and the City of Cotabato that opted to be part of the region during a plebiscite in 2019. The supervision of the areas was turned over to the Bangsamoro government in late 2020.
Guerra said that 63 road, three bridge, and a slope protection projects worth P1.48 billion will be constructed in North Cotabato barangays.
Cotabato City, on the other hand, is set to receive this year P370-million worth of road and other public works in all of its 37 barangays.
