Bangsamoro gov’t tells LGUs to follow new GCQ guidelines

Bangsamoro Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG-BARMM) Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo has urged the local government units in the region to follow the guidelines on the new general community quarantine (GCQ) set by the National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) to contain the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Sinarimbo said the provinces that want to declare a new quarantine classification need to submit the request to the Regional IATF, which in turn will recommend it to the National IATF.

“Walang authority ang mga Local Government Units na mag-declare on their own at kailangan ng approval ‘yon,” he said.

The National IATF announced Thursday, May 14, that all regions classified as low-risk areas, including the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), would be placed under GCQ beginning May 16 until May 31.

This was after revoking the earlier announcement that low-risk areas for Covid-19 infections shall no longer be under community quarantine (CQ).
