The Bangsamoro government has spearheaded a two-day forum to plan and develop a sustainable energy in the region.
Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)-Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE) has organized the event, which is now on its second and last day.
Minister Abdulraof Macacua of MENRE-BARMM said the activity is in preparation for a “big” energy summit to be held before the end of the year and is expected to be attended by President Rodrigo Duterte and BARMM Interim Chief Minister Al Haj Murad Ebrahim.
He said the energy forum was a first of its kind. It was organized by the MENRE-BARMM’s Interim Office on Energy, a newly created office.
The Interim Office on Energy is responsible for preparing, integrating, coordinating, supervising and controlling all plans, programs, projects and activities of the BARMM related to energy exploration, development, utilization, distribution and conservation.
The forum was anchored on the theme: “Strengthening Opportunities for the Bangsamoro Energy Sector as Catalyst for Regional Development.”
