Bangsamoro gov’t inaugurates 100-bed Covid-19 isolation facility

Bangsamoro government Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim led Thursday, May 28, the launching of the region’s first isolation and treatment facility for coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The 100-bed capacity isolation facility located in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao and was completed in just 40 days through the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) Ministry of Public Works (MPW) was turned over to the management of Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital (CSH) and is expected to start operation in two weeks’ time.

The construction of the facility is one of the Bangsamoro Inter-Agency Task Force’s (BIATF) immediate responses to manage and contain the spread of the virus in the region, Ebrahim said.

“The BIATF made sure that basic services were delivered, preventive measures were in place and most importantly, sustainable efforts were made to assure that we can figuratively and literally isolate COVID-19,” he said.

MPW Minister Eduard Guerra said the construction of the P21-million worth Covid-19 center has gone through challenges due to quarantine restrictions, but his office managed to complete it on time.

The same Covid-19 isolation center is also underway in the municipality of Datu Blah Sinsuat, Maguindanao.
