Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said Monday, September 20, that the local government has passed a resolution urging the national government not to deploy anymore to Davao City Chinese brands of anti-Covid-19 vaccines.
The local chief executive said there is now “low acceptability” of Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines among Dabawenyos.
“We have a moral responsibility to let the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) know what is happening on the ground,” she said.
“So we passed a resolution coming from the vaccine cluster informing IATF that there is a low acceptability, without offense sa Sinopharm and Sinovac, to stop buying and stop sending Sinopharm and Sinovac to vaccination sites,” Duterte-Carpio said.
She said the national government should instead focus on buying Pfizer and Moderna, both US brands, “since there is high interest in Pfizer and Moderna.”
The city government earlier urged the Dabawenyos not to be “choosy” with the vaccines after observing that some inoculation sites have no vaccinees.
