Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco has ordered the security forces to track down 17 people from Surigao who arrived in the city but went missing allegedly to evade quarantine after one of them was tested positive for coronavirus disease.
After one of the 17 travelers were tested positive for Covid-19, City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite said they immediately tried to contact and trace them for quarantine as they traveled together.
But she said the local government could no longer locate their whereabouts, thus, posing a health risk among them and the people they have contacted with in the city.
Miravite said the 17 individuals were bound for Tawi-Tawi to work in a mining site. The local government could not immediately confirm if they had already left for Tawi-Tawi.
Climaco directed the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) to coordinate with the local government of Tawi-Tawi to deteremine if they are already in the island province.
