AFP provides aid to Sulu bombing victims


The Armed Forces of the Philippines(AFP) led by chief of staff General Benjamin Madrigal Jr. has extended financial and moral supprt to the wounded and bereaved families of those killed in the suicide bombing incident in Sulu.

Accompanied by new Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief Major General Cirilito Sobejana, Madrigal also conferred award to the wounded soldiers during his visit at Camp Teodulfo Bautista Station Hosptal in Busbus, Jolo, Sulu Saturday, June 29, a day after the explosion.

The alleged suicide attack transpired at headquarters of 1st Brigade Combat Team in Tanjung, Indanan, Sulu where eight people, including three soldiers and two alleged suicide bombers, were killed and a dozen wounded.

The military officials also inspected the explosion site.

Madrigal also checked the condition of the troops and boosted their morale amid the continuing campaign against terrorism in the province, Westmincom said.

“The men and women of the Western Mindanao Command extend their deepest sympathy to the bereaved family of those killed in action during the unfortunate incident on June 28,” Sobejana said.

He vowed that Westmincom would be relentless in its effort to bring long and lasting peace and progress in the Bangsamoro Region and the adjoining provinces that it covers. #
