Abu Sayyaf bandits release 2 lady cops in Sulu
The Abu Sayyaf bandits have freed the two policewomen after 16 days in captivity in Sulu, authorities said Wednesday.
PO3 Benierose Alvarez and PO1 Dinah Gumahad were released after a ransom of P2.5 million was allegedly paid.
Police said the two were released separately in Talipao town Tuesday, May 15.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde said the two cops would undergo debriefing to determine what happened to them while in captivity.
The two policewomen, along with two other civilians, while on board a motorcycle were seized by armed men on April 29 in Barangay Liang, Patikul.
The two civilians were released and rescued, respectively, in different occasions earlier this month.
