8 OWWA sweeper flight passengers in Zamboanga City test positive for Covid-19

At least eight of the 156 passengers who arrived at the Zamboanga International Airport through a sweeper flight arranged by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) tested positive for Covid-19.

Those who tested positive were among those 116 passengers who have expired RT-PCR test results and were subjected to rapid antigen test (RAT) undertaken by the City Health Office (CHO) team, the Zamboanga City government said Thursday, January 13.

OWWA sweeper flights were among those affected when Philippine Airlines cancelled several domestic and international flights due to staff shortages amid a surge in Covid-19 infections.

The Airport Border Control team is composed of CHO, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and Turismo Local de Zamboanga.
