Five former members of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) are set to receive P254,000 as payment for five firearms that they have surrendered to the military.
The rebels gave up their firearms to the 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion, 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.
According to the military, the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office made the valuation of the yielded firearms, such as M16A1, two M1 Garrand, M1 Carbine and cal .45.
Cost valuation is part of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or E-CLIP by the government intended for the NPA members who want to surrender.
Apart from the payment of the weapons, the former rebels will also receive additional P65,000-worth of assistance and they are also qualified to avail of the housing project from the National Housing Authority (NHA).
