4 rescued as training plane crashes off Zamboanga City coast

A private training plane carrying four passengers made an emergency landing in the coastal area of Zamboanga City Tuesday, July 7.

Police Major Helen Galvez, public information chief of Police Regional Office 9, said the incident occurred off Barangay Sinunuc at about 9:30 a.m.

Citing the initial investigation, Galvez said the plane piper Seneca with twin engines was flying bound for Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental when one of the engines allegedly malfunctioned, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing along the coast of Sinunuc and ditch in the sea.

“No one was hurt during the said incident as the passengers managed to safely exit the plane,” she said.
