The Zamboanga City government held Friday, November 27, a mass burial for the 20 unclaimed cadavers stored in a morgue for over a year already.
According to Mayor Beng Climaco, the cadavers were buried in a mass grave at the city-owned cemetery in Talabaan.
The mass burial, jointly undertaken by the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the City Health Office, was done after the blessing rites officiated by a priest, she said.
“Fourteen of the cadavers were male and 6 were female. The cadavers were either found in various areas or abandoned in hospitals,” Climaco said.
The city government holds mass burial of unclaimed cadavers every year.
