Four people, including two soldiers and two alleged Maute fighters under leader Abu Dar, died in an encounter in Lanao del Sur Monday, March 11, military said.
A government trooper was also wounded when the forces from the 55th Infantry Battalion engaged 22 Maute fighters in Barangay Calaludan, Pagayawan town, said Colonel Romeo Brawner, commander of the 103rd Infantry Brigade.
The suspected terrorists who were killed were identified as alias Abu Tahir and Abu Jihad.
The government troops recovered Abu Tahir’s remains, while the residents reported Abu Jihad’s death, Brawner said.
Soldiers also seized a carbine rifle and a lower receiver of an M16 rifle.
