Two individuals, including an alleged member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Region 9.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron N. Aquino identified the suspects as Carnain Hamid, alias Carlo, MILF member; and Sarampatah Amin, alias Patah, member of Omega Drug Group.
Hamid was nabbed on August 26 during the anti-drug operation in Purok 4, Buyogan West, Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur.
Seized from him were alleged shabu, weighing about 2.5 grams, with an estimated value of P13,940.00, a Colt caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing six pieces of live ammunition, and the buy-bust money.
Amin, on the other hand, was arrested on August 27 in a buy-bust operation at the 2nd floor of Isabela City Wet Market, Isabela City, Basilan.
Confiscated from him were alleged shabu, weighing more or less seven grams amounting to P47,600.00, a transparent plastic sachet containing eight pieces of folded aluminum foils, and the buy-bust money.
The arrested suspects would face charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. An additional case for violation of Republic Act 10591, or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition, would be filed against Hamid.
