Some 170 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in Luzon arrived in Zamboanga City Saturday, May 30, through a sweeper flight.
The city government said most of the LSIs were students and residents stranded in Luzon specifically Manila and Clark since the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine on March 20 due to coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
Those who arrived at Zamboanga City airport underwent through health protocols.
The LSIs were later ferried to quarantine facilities arranged by the city government.
“We thank the national government and all agencies and partner LGUs that collaborated with the Zamboanga City Government and made the return of the LSIs possible,” the local government said.
It added that efforts are also being exerted to bring home LSIs from Davao and Cebu.
