Over 1,400 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC) have been vaccinated against Covid-19, the city government said Wednesday, October 20.
As of October 15, it said a total of 1,430 PDLs have been inoculated in line with the local government’s desire to accelerate the vaccination rollout in the city and provide the residents with added protection against coronavirus.
The inoculation of PDLs at the ZCRC started May 31 with City Health Office (CHO) vaccination teams in collaboration with the BJMP medical team spearheading the rollout.
Most of the PDLs fall under the A5 category (indigent population) but a number of them are under the A2 category (senior citizens) as well as A3 (with comorbidities).
The vaccination rollout inside the ZCRC will continue until all the PDLs will be inoculated and protected against Covid-19, the city government said.
Per records from the ZCRC, there are 2,963 PDLs in the male dormitory and 316 PDL at the female dormitory.
Meanwhile, vaccination of PDLs at the San Ramon Penal Farm is also being pursued, the local government said.
