12 bombs recovered after clashes with BIFF in Cotabato, says military


The government troopers have recovered 12 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) after series of encounters with the members of lawless Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Cotabato.

According to military’s Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), soldiers of 7th Infantry Battalion (IB) exchanged fire with the group of Katato Samad at Sitio Blah in Barangay Manaulanan, Pikit at 5:25 a.m. Friday, December 27. Samad is a bomb maker and SOG battalion commander of the BIFF’s 1st Division.

Another five-minute gunfight ensued between 7IB troops and another group of BIFF terrorists near the engagement area.

Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, Joint Task Force Central commander, said the soldiers recovered 12 improvised explosives planted by the bandits after the encounters.
