1 Cafgu member killed, 3 others wounded in Maguindanao attack


Unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects attacked members of the Cafgu Active Auxiliary (CAA), killing one and wounding three others in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Lt. Col. Samuel C. Nadala Jr., commanding officer of 2nd Mechanized Infantry (Makasag) Battalion, said that paramilitary Tong Kaul succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds while his colleagues Mama Mohamad, Arsad Datu Ali, and Salindatu Mangulamas were injured and rushed to the hospital following the attack on June 17 along the Awang-Dalican Highway in Sitio Gubat, Barangay Makir.

“Victims were onboard on a personal civilian vehicle a Toyota Corolla with plate number UMZ 509 when they were fired upon by unidentified motorcycle-riding perpetrators with the use of automatic rifles, around 10:45 in the morning,” Nadala said.

Major Jayne Eyre S. Labarda, commanding officer of Division CAA Affairs Unit (DCAU), said that they were on their way back to Bagang Detachment in Guindulungan from Taviran, Datu Odin Sinsuat after attending the culmination of their CAA Refresher Training when they were shot by riding in tandem suspects.

“The case is being investigated to determine the possible motive behind the killing of Kaul and the wounding of three others in the said gun attack on Friday in a broad daylight,” the official said.

The military condemned the attack.
