Western Mindanao council OKs resolution recognizing military’s dedication to liberate Marawi
The Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) of Western Mindanao chaired by Zamboanga Mayor Beng Climaco commended the military for liberating Marawi City from the terrorists.
The recognization, specifically citing the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine Air Force (PAF), was contained in a resolution that the PROC-9 approved and was presented during the “Marawi Air Campaign Commemoration” rites at the Edwin Andrews Air Base Grandstand Friday with AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr. as guest of honor.
The resolution stated AFP’s role as the protector of the people and the state.
“The display of selfless dedication and meritorious service of the military in defending the country, which resulted in the liberation of Marawi, cannot be overstated. Thus, the AFP, PAF and the PNP (Philippine National police) deserve the RPOC’s commendation,” RPOC-9 said in a resolution
The ISIS-Maute terrorists attacked Marawi starting on May 23 last year.
After almost five months of battle, Presidenti Rodrigo Duterte declared the liberation of Marawi from terrorists on Oct. 17, 2017.
