Wanted BIFF medical officer, cousin killed
A wanted Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter (BIFF) medical officer and his cousin were killed last night in a law enforcement operation in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao.
Capt. Arvin Encinas, public affairs office chief of the 6th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, says Raul Angkay, 46 years-old, was neutralized by operatives from the Army, CIDG-ARMM and Maguindano PPO in Barangay Labu-Labu.
Encinas reveals Angkay is listed in the Arrest Order No. 2 or crime of rebellion issued by the Defense Department following the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao.
The Maguindanao PPO added that Angkay’s cousin Edz Angkay Dalending was also killed in the raid. Dalending is also a member of the BIFF.
Authorities also recovered one caliber 41 pistol, one fragmentation grenade and six cellular phones in the scene.
Both the AFP and PNP doubt the participation of the two in the ongoing crisis in Marawi City although the BIFF is known to have ties with the Maute terrorist group.
