Wala ka pala eh! Villarin says Duterte admission proves drug vow was impossible

President Rodrigo Duterte has practically admitted that his campaign vow to rid the country of illegal drugs was “impossible.”

Opposition politiko, Akbayan Party-List Rep. Tom Villarin gave this assessment Monday (August 14) following reports that the Chief Executive had conceded that the drug problem can’t be solved in just one six-year term. The latter also admitted that he can’t stop drug smuggling.

“If this is not one of his jokes again, it only proves that it was an impossible campaign promise to stop the drug problem,” said Villarin.

Villarin and the rest of the “Magnificent 7” have criticized Duterte for endorsing the “bloody” conduct of law enforcers’ anti-illegal drug operations wherein at least 8,000 have been killed.

“President Duterte’s admission should be enough reason to stop Oplan Tokhang and review all drug-related deaths due to such policy. It is highly unfortunate that the President accepted this truth only after thousands of Filipinos have been terminated or extrajudicially killed.

“If much of the problem is with our national borders, why are we taking it out on street-level peddlers and one-time users?” asked Villarin.

It can be recalled that then-Davao City Mayor Duterte promised to put an end to the drug problem within the first six month of his Palace term. #
