Try, try again: DAR to try installing farmers in Tagum on Friday
After a brief delay, the Department of Agrarian Reform is making plans to push through with the installation of farmers at a banana farm in Tagum City this Friday.
This was after the writ of installation issued by DAR Secretary Rafael Mariano last April 11 was not executed by the local police.
The PNP was to assist in the execution of the writ, but asked for a one-week postponement after Police Regional Office 11 head Chief Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan sought advice on the matter from the Regional Trial Court Branch 14 in Davao City.
Mariano told members of the Madaum Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association Inc. (Marbai) that the writ of installation is moved to Friday, April 21.
By this time, he said police are expected to execute an operational plan to disarm company guards and avert violence.
Also, he said he will write PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa about the DAR’s plan to execute the writ.
Marbai vice chairperson Salvador Barcebal, 60, said they are dismayed with the delay.
