Safest city daw: Davao City is PH’s rape capital in in Q2: report
President Rodrigo Duterte’s Davao City recorded the highest number of rape cases in the country during the second quarter of this year, according to UNTV report.
Citing the data from the Philippine National Police Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM), UNTV said there were 42 cases of rape in Davao City from April to June.
Quezon City had 41 cases of rape during the same period, landing it to the second place, followed by Manila with 32 cases, Cagayan de Oro, 24 and Zamboanga with 21 cases, the same report said.
PNP spokesperson Senior Supt. Benigno Durana indicated that incidence of rape usually happened at home.
“You cannot police the dwellings… usually, rape cases are being committed by people who are actually known to the victim,” the UNTV quoted Duran as saying.
