Rep. Siao pushes for Iligan City to be a tourism hub of Mindanao
Iligan City Representative Frederick W. Siao said Thursday that his city is ready and able to be a tourism hub of Mindanao.
Siao, also vice chair of the House committee on tourism, has been pushing for the approval of House Bill No. 5720, which seeks to declare Iligan City as a tourism development area.
Iligan City can offer a variety of tourist destinations for travelers looking for the “off the beaten track” or unusual tourist attractions that are scarcely offered currently in the market, he said.
Noting that Iligan is dubbed as the “City of Majestic Waterfalls,” he said the city has many magnificent waterfalls like Maria Crstina, Limunsudan, and Tinago Falls.
He also said that Iligan has a dozen of natural springs in Timoga-Buruun, forested mountain of Mt. Agad-Agad, pristine forest of Rogongon and Digkilaan and coastal areas, which are ready to be tapped for development.
“Iligan City is an ideal gateway to usher in visitors to the many splendid attractions that Northern Mindanao has to offer, including an educated population and low crime rate,” Siao said.
