Pinagmukhang bago: Ex-Butuan City mayor Amante faces raps over P15M donated CT scan machine
Former Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr. has been charged with graft for allegedly making it appear that a donated computerized tomography (CT) scan machine got purchased for P15.4 million.
The Office of the Ombudsman filed the case before the Sandiganbayan for after finding probable cause to indict him.
Under the charge, Amante had allegedly approved the release of the funds from November 2012 to June 2013 in favor of World Medical Relief-Philippine National Business and Coordination Center Inc. of Panabo City.
The amount was intended to pay for the purchase of the CTR scan machine, its importation duties, transportation and storage fees.
However, the Ombudsman said the CT scan machine was found to be donation from the World Medical Relief Inc. in the United States.
Apart from knowing it to be a donation, the Ombudsman alleged that Amante also knew that the CT scan machine was also no longer functioning prior its importation.
The Ombudsman also learned that the CT scan machine was only supposed to have cost P1.5 million.
