PDEA arrests Kudarat town treasurer due to lavish living: Pera ng drugs gamit
A lavish lifestyle led to the arrest of an acting municipal treasurer of Sultan Kudarat linked to a local drug gang operating in Sultan Kudarat and its neighboring areas.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 12 director Gil Cesario Castro said Joy Salva Nadar, 46, acting treasurer of Palimbang town in Sultan Kudarat, was arrested with husband Jojo Balanay Nadar, 42.
The PDEA said the two are reportedly members of SOGIS, an emerging drug group, with the treasurer considered a “high value” target. SOGIS reportedly operates in Sultan Kudarat and neighboring areas.
He said the two, arrested in a subdivision in General Santos City over the weekend, had been known for their extravagant lifestyle.
“The subjects were living lavishly, having an extravagant lifestyle that exudes their means because they derive most of their income through drug dealings and illegal disbursement of public funds,” Castro said.
He said the operation was conducted in three “lavish” houses supposedly owned by the couple, who were arrested Saturday evening in Malesido Subdivision in Barangay San Isidro.
Recovered were 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P250,000, a rifle grenade, ammunition, two bags with bank checks and disbursement vouchers, and a metallic gray Toyota Fortuner (AO-1529).
