Para iwas buwis-buhay: N. Cotabato BM Piñol wants accident-prone road upgraded
North Cotabato provincial board member Socrates Piñol is urging the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to upgrade an accident-prone portion of the Cotabato-Davao highway in a bid to save lives and properties.
The politiko earlier authored a resolution prodding the DPWH first engineering district to look into the “faulty road design” of a highway in downtown Makilala municipality.
In a resolution addressed to District Engineer Elpidio Birog, Piñol said the design of the road caused a series of accidents beginning January 2017.
The politiko stressed that even if he is not a civil engineer, the road accidents that happened on the curve at Purok 11 (Patulangon, Makilala) proved that something was wrong with the design, which needs to be corrected.
In a report submitted to Piñol’s office, Chief Inspector Elias Colonia said five road crashes involving eight vehicles have been recorded by the municipal police station since January this year.
One person died in the mishaps while 19 others were injured, data showed.
