Paolo Duterte on Digong’s honorary UP degree: Wala kaming paki dyan!

Despite the backlash, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte has expressed his thanks to the University of the Philippines Board of Regents (UP-BOR) for considering his father, President Rodrigo Duterte, a worthy recipient of an honorary degree.

However, he also took this opportunity to score the so-called “learned individuals” who bashed the UP-BOR’s move.

“To the so-called learned individuals who frown upon the plan of the University of the Philippines to grant an honorary doctorate degree to the President, you can have that honorary degree for all we care,” the politiko said in a Manila Bulletin online report on April 19.

The Davao City vice mayor added that they have always been taught about the value of education.

“Our father also inculcated in us that knowledge and wisdom must go hand in hand with the degree,” Paolo said in the same report.

The politiko stressed that he believes his father would not “give a heck with any ‘honorary degree’ simply because he knows he did not work hard for such a degree.”
